This is a 15-20 minute tutor time PSHE session on charity volunteering. It can be used as a whole school assembly for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Grade 6-12, Years 7-13). It does not have any written tasks just two downloaded video clips that will never disappear and discussion questions so students can find out what they can volunteer for and why they would benefit from voluntary work. This can be lengthened or shortened to fit a tutor time, assembly or a lesson for PSHE, Citizenship, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and Character Education. This is a PowerPoint with different moral questions to make students think. For example, “if you borrow a million pounds are you a millionaire?”, “Can you get lost if you don’t know where you are going.” These are great discussion questions for assemblies, debates or citizenship/PSHE/SMSC provision. They will improve communication skills in tutor time sessions or as starters to lessons. They are appropriate for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (11-18 years old).

This is a 15-20 minute assembly on the important issue of hate crime. It can be used for all KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) year groups as an assembly, a tutor time session or a PSHE whole school lesson. It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10. This is a lesson which centres around the Coercive Control BBC documentary. It was originally a set of 2 x 90 minute Citizenship lessons but can be adapted easily. It includes written activities and discussion points as well as extension tasks, definitions, moral issues and sources of support. It has already engaged lots of students and taught them the law and issues surrounding Coercive Control. It highlights how to spot coercive control and leads to some excellent discussions among KS4 and KS5 students. It is fully narrated although you can easily change this by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated. It fits into the PSHE and RSE & Health Curriculum and can be used to highlight and learning to spot and stop abusive relationships. It is suitable for KS4-KS5 ( Ages 15-18+, Years 10-13, Grades 10-12).

This is a collection of 20 riddles that can be used with tutor groups from the ages of 9-18. It could be used to aid discussions and debates and to improve communication and thinking skills as part of PSHE or SMSC provision.

This session is a 10-15 minute PSHE session that can be used as an assembly or as a tutor time whole school pastoral focus. It outlines definitions, the law, issues that arise, why it is important to know about consent and sources of support. This has two downloaded short videos and includes discussion activities, information, where to get support and a plenary quiz. There are no written activities but this can be easily lengthened for a whole PSHE lesson. This is suitable for KS4 and KS5 students (Years 10-13, Ages 14-18) and links to the new RSE and Health Curriculum.

This was originally a 60 minute Year 10 lesson to introduce the world of work and preparing for job interviews. It covers body language, dress, how to give a good impression at an interview, body language and some suggested careers. There is a worksheet to accompany it with this lesson but it can be used without it. This lesson is suitable for older KS3-KS4 pupils (13-18 years old) and as part of their PSHE, Careers or Work Experience session in a tutor time. It can be easily shortened or lengthened and has worked well with my students.

This is a 15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE session outlining the issue of body shaming. It covers definitions, the consequences of body shaming, the feelings it involves, statistics and discussion activities about who is guilty of body shaming and what can be done about it. This does not contain any written activities but could easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson. There are three short downloaded video clips that will never disappear. This session fits into the new RSHE curriculum and the PSHE curriculum and is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13 but more suitable for KS3 and KS4 for an assembly or tutor time session.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly on homophobia. It lasts 15-20 minutes and includes discussion questions and a downloaded video that will never disappear. It gives students sources of support and guides them through the legal implications of hate crime, particularly homophobia and transphobia. This was delivered to Year 7 in a tutor time PSHE session but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18, Grades 6-12) and could be used as an assembly instead. There are no written tasks in this PowerPoint. This fits into the new RSE and Health Curriculum and is a useful whole school tutor time session to approach the issue of homophobia in schools.

This is a 15-20 minute presentation to teach students about how to master self-disciple. It gives practical tips, definitions and has a 9 minute video with discussion tasks which is downloaded so it will never disappear! It has no written tasks as it was originally a PSHE session for tutor time for KS3. It is also relevant for KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and was received well by many students. It covers the Key Skill Curriculum, the new RSE & Health Curriculum, Character Education, PSHE, Citizenship and can be used as an assembly.

his is a 10-15 minute assembly about vaccinations. It is not specifically about Covid 19 vaccinations but more about vaccinations in childhood and in general. However, it could easily be used to cover Covid-19 vaccinations as well. It is suitable for KS3-KS4 (Ages 11-18, Grades 6-13, Years 7-13) and was originally a year 9 tutor time PSHE session. It focuses on the key question, Why is getting vaccinated so important for public health? It covers: What vaccines are and why they are important 3 short downloaded videos that will never disappear about: WHO immunisation for all programme A world without vaccines How vaccines work It ends with a plenary discussion task There are no written activities just information and discussion. This fits into the new RSE and Health Curriculum, PSHE or Whole School assembly approach to Healthy Living.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly about avoiding debt and saving money. This is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and can be used as part of the Finance Education curriculum, PSHE & Citizenship and as a tutor time whole school assembly. It covers: Why it is best to avoid debt How can they avoid debt A video about creating a budget A video about saving money A discussion task as a quick plenary. Both videos are downloaded so will never disappear and there are no written activities. This can easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson or be used as whole school resource to teach students about avoiding debt. Students responded very well to this session.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly about community cohesion. It can be used for a tutor time PSHE session or whole school session for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, years 7-13) and tackles the important issue of cohesion amongst the community. It has one slide that is specific to Birmingham but this can be altered or still used outside the city. There are discussion questions and no written activities although these could be easily adapted to last for an entire lesson if needed. It includes: What Community Cohesion is Why it it important Has Community Cohesion improved in the city & in the UK? Plenary thinking task about our responsibility to make our community cohesive. Students reacted very positively to this resource; it was originally a Year 10 tutor time PSHE/Citizenship session and fits into the PSHE, RSHE, FBV, SMSC and Citizenship curriculum.

This is a 10-15 minute tutor time PSHE session or assembly on healthy living. It covers what a healthy diet is and what an unhealthy diet it. It has some interactive anagrams, discussion activities and three downloaded video clips that will never disappear! It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 7 but can be used for any year group at KS2 - KS4 (Years 5-11 Ages 9-16) and is suitable to be used as an assembly or whole school session.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly about finance. This is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) as a focus on finance education or PSHE or a standalone assembly. This is a 15-20 minute assembly about the dangers of ketamine. This is suitable for upper KS3-KS5 (Years 9-13, Ages 13-18) and fits well into the new RSE & Health curriculum, the PSHE & Citizenship curriculum as well as the Keeping children Safe in Education Safesguarding document. It contains: What ketamine is The dangers and risks of the drug Discussion about the class of the drug A short video clip about how ketamine can affect you A short video clip with a case study about addiction and the consequences of taking the drug There are no written activities in this session only discussion tasks but it could easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson. The video clips are both downloaded so they will never disappear! This session was received well by the students and covers an important part of modern day drug education.

This is a comprehensive list of all of the online free training courses available for staff to improve their knowledge about topics in the new RSE and Health Curriculum and aid their teaching of PSHE and Citizenship. Each training course has their website, their relevance, timings etc so it is a full list which can be used in a staff training session or put on the Staff online area for people to access throughout the year to complete extra PSHE training courses. Relevant to all Secondary School staff with any interest in PSHE, RSE, safeguarding or mental health.
